Having my mother live with me was quite an awakening, to say the least. My husband and I had to put locks on all the doors, including her bedroom door. Due to our home being a tri-level house, I knew it would be unsafe for her. She would walk at all hours during the night, if she could, and without a doubt she would leave the house given the opportunity.
Sadly, there were times when she’d ask me if my mom were still alive. Of course I just told her “yes.” She would continue by saying, your mother must be very proud of you. I think this was probably one of the saddest days for me.
